Roads to Respect 2009 lecture tour reaches 1,000 university students
The lecture tour phase of the third Roads to Respect (R2R) road safety campaign will be completed on 23 June with a visit to the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in southern Germany.
Roads to Respect (R2R) is an international road safety campaign which is coordinated by the European Transport Safety Council (ETSC) and supported by Toyota Europe and 3M Europe. R2R involves graduate students and young professionals from across Europe in science-based road safety work and policy development.
Since March, the lecture tour has visited 23 universities in six countries - the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland and Portugal.
More than 1,000 engineering students have attended the lectures and all have been invited to submit proposals for a road safety campaign to fix one high-risk site in their hometowns.
Based on these proposals, 25 students will be invited to participate in the R2R Camp that will take place in Brussels from 28 September to 2 October 2009. At the camp, international road safety experts will teach the participants how to run an infrastructure road safety campaign. Read more (Toyota Fund for Europe)
