Renault-Nissan and Project Better Place prepare for first mass marketed electric vehicles
In a move towards reducing CO2 car emissions as well as particles pollution, the Renault-Nissan Alliance and Project Better Place in January signed an MOU for the introduction of electric vehicles into the Israeli market starting in 2011. The solution framework comes in response to the Israeli State’s challenge to the auto industry and its supply chain to migrate the country’s transportation infrastructure to renewable sources of energy. Under the agreement, Renault will supply the electric vehicles, while Project Better Place will construct and operate an Electric Recharge Grid across the entire country. The batteries will be supplied by Nissan its joint venture with NEC. Israeli government will provide tax incentives to customers to encourage the promotion of electric cars. Read more.
