2012 Social Change Impact Report by Walden University: “Global Economic Conditions Impact Positive Social Change”
Results from Walden University’s 2012 Social Change Impact Report show that two-thirds of adults across the globe agree that when economic conditions are bad, it is more important to be involved in social change than when economic conditions are good. However, many say their actions do not change in a bad economy, and in fact, only 20% of adults, on average, say they’re more likely to donate money to a cause or an organization when economic conditions are bad.Despite the fact that many adults around the world see the value in nonprofits and that a majority get involved through organizations, institutions or companies (60%, on average), a majority still believe the most important agents of social change are “individual people acting on their own, not organizations or companies”… Read more

Euclid Network awarded tender for ‘European Social Innovation Expertise for the European Social Innovation Prize Competition’
Euclid Network (EN) in partnership with Nesta has been awarded the tender for the ‘European Social Innovation Expertise for the European Social Innovation Prize Competition’.This is to help the European Commission and an events contractor to deliver two successful social innovation competitions in three years. Western Union Doubles Commitment to Wildfire Relief
In response to the worst wildfire season in Colorado history, The Western Union Company has expanded its disaster-aid efforts to support the communities in Colorado impacted by the fires. Sanofi fighting exclusion of children with epilepsy in Africa
On the occasion of the 1st African Congress of epilepsy held in Nairobi (Kenya) from 21 to 23 June, which brought together nearly 300 participants from 51 countries, Sanofi and its partners, the Ministries of Health and Education and the NGO KAWE (Kenyan Association for the Welfare of People with Epilepsy) launched an educational comic book “We’ll make it”. One million schoolchildren from 5 African countries will have access to this educational comic book.Within a school campaign to fight the stigma surrounding epilepsy, this educational comic book will soon be available in 5 countries in Africa, with the aim to reach more than one million pupils from Benin, Kenya, Cameroon, Madagascar and Senegal… Read more

Cargill smallholders receive European certification for the supply of sustainable biofuels
Smallholders at Cargill's palm oil plantation, PT Hindoli in South Sumatra, Indonesia, recently became the one of the first smallholders to receive official certification for sustainable palm oil supply for biofuels, according to the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) standards within the European Union (EU).ISCC is a certification scheme approved by the EU to cover the EU Renewable Energy Directive (RED). This means that Cargill is able to provide its customers with palm oil destined for energy applications that are working towards compliance with the RED which is being written into law by EU member countries… Read more

L’Oréal ranked among one of the most transparent companies in the consumer goods and services industry in Transparency International’s Transparency in Corporate Reporting- assessment.The Transparency in Corporate Reporting assesses the disclosure of steps these companies have in place to fight corruption. It also looks at companies’ transparency footprint across 177 countries: to what extent are earnings and taxes in specific countries made public. Transparency International has scored companies from 0-10 based on their disclosure of various sorts of business information important for investors and the general public: where they pay their taxes, their corporate structures and what they are doing to prevent corruption… Read more
