SRI funds 'failing to invest in companies that tackle climate change'

Socially responsible investment (SRI) and ethical funds are often failing to invest in companies that tackle climate change, according to a report by Holden & Partners. The independent financial advisor (IFA) assessed the top 10 holdings of all the SRI, ethical and environmental funds open to private investors in the UK. Climate a business issue, but action lacking - McKinsey report

Business leaders across the globe believe climate change is an important consideration, but few appear to have taken significant action to cut company greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, Environmental Finance reports on the results of a survey by consultancy McKinsey.The survey found that 60% of executives believe climate change is important to consider as part of their companies’ strategy. Two thirds of firms failing to green supply chains, survey says

Despite high profile initiatives from firms such as Wal-Mart and HP to limit the environmental impact of their supply chains, the majority of large firms still have no green supply chain policy in place, BusinessGreen reports. London launches world's largest 'low-emission zone'

Trucks driving around the UK capital will be fined up to £200 per day if they are found to be over EU pollution standards in an attempt to improve the city's poor air quality. Business travel industry and clients embrace environmental awareness

In just over two years since the Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) introduced Corporate Social Responsibility as a major industry initiative, the number of travellers and companies embracing environmental awareness has more than doubled, according to a new industry-wide survey. The joint ACTE/KDS survey indicates that 59 percent of respondents’ companies now have a CSR charter. HP recycled over 110 million kilograms of products in 2007; 50% more than in 2006

HPHP has announced it recycled over 110 million kilograms of hardware and print cartridges globally in the 2007 fiscal year – an increase of 50 percent on the previous year and the equivalent to almost 400 Airbus A380s. HP also refurbished almost 29 million kilograms of hardware for resale or donation, increasing its annual reuse rate by 30 percent. Companies see volunteering as a benefit

As more employees see volunteer work as a way to learn new skills or move their careers forward, volunteering has become a sort of corporate benefit, AP reports. Companies are increasingly offering time off for volunteer projects, volunteer work on company time or company-organised efforts.
