EU takes final step in adopting Energy Efficiency Directive
EU ministers yesterday (4 October) placed the last piece of the 20-20-20 climate puzzle, agreed in 2007, by throwing their weight behind the EU's Energy Efficiency Directive.The directive is the last piece of legislation out of a suite of three which came as a result of the March 2007 EU summit, when member states had struck an agreement on a 20% energy efficiency target by 2020, together with a 20% renewable energy target and a 20% CO2 reduction target.Despite the European Parliament giving an overwhelmingly positive vote on the directive in the plenary on 11 September, EU officials were still not celebrating its adoption until this final Council vote, EurActiv understands… Read more

AXA and IPSOS publish survey on individual perceptions of climate risk
An international opinion poll of unprecedented scope and scale reveals that the world's populations share many of the same worries and beliefs about climate change. EACA launches "This is my future" - innovative campaign to support young entrepreneurs in Europe
The European Association of Communications Agencies (EACA), representing 85% of the 88 billion euros of advertising placed annually in Europe, has announced a major pan-European campaign aimed at supporting young entrepreneurs. The service will launch in March 2013 in key European markets (UK, Germany, Poland, Italy and Spain) with plans to expand across Europe in subsequent years."This is my future" intends to inspire 500,000 new start-up businesses over the next three years. EU commissioner for Internal Market Michel Barnier launches four growth drivers for 'Single Market Act II'
