ArcelorMittal signs a partnership for climate change education in 200,000 schools in India

ArcelorMittalCentre for Environment Education and ArcelorMittal India signed an agreement to partner for 3 years in facilitating and implementing environmental awareness programmes in schools in India. The Pick Right/ Kaun Banega Bharat ka Paryavaran Ambassador campaign, is a climate change education programme led by the Indian Ministry of Environment and Forests. To date, over 150 training sessions have been held for local educators, as well as over 200,000 schools receiving campaign kits on environmental issues such as climate change… Read more

EU pressures emerging economies to act on climate

The EU expects China and other emerging economies to cut their emissions by up to a third compared to business-as-usual scenarios, Swedish Environment Minister Andreas Carlgren said last week.While the EU is prepared to push for funding for adaptation and mitigation for the majority of poor countries in exchange for national climate plans, advanced developing countries will have to deliver more, the EU's Environment Council chair told reporters. Self-regulation in advertising - New international guide

The European Advertising Standards Alliance (EASA), with support from the World Federation of Advertisers (WFA) and the International Advertising Association (IAA), has published an international guide to developing advertising self-regulatory organisations. It features practical advice on setting up and consolidating advertising self-regulatory systems and incorporates various international experiences in the creation of self-regulatory organisations. Does Carbon Labeling Confuse Consumers?

Tesco, a British supermarket chain, began festooning cartons of milk this month with information on the carbon dioxide emissions associated with the production, processing, distribution and use of each pint. But the idea of carbon labeling has been fiercely contested in Europe, and varying methods for measuring a product’s carbon footprint have contributed to more general concerns in the food sector that introducing new labels will confuse and worry consumers.
