Asian corporates provide a wealth of climate change data for investors

Asian ex-Japan companies have responded strongly to the carbon disclosure project this year, according the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) 2009, Asia ex-Japan Report which was launched this week. The number of reporting companies has more than doubled to a total of 127, up from 61 last year and the quality and materiality of responses has continued to improve. IBM's smart grid test run cuts power use by 15 percent

IBMIBM unveiled on Tuesday the results of a smart grid pilot project that aims to show how much energy savings are possible through the use of electricity monitoring devices. In partnership with Consert, IBM installed controller devices in 100 businesses and residences on appliances and other energy-intensive items. The results show significant savings available from relatively easy changes to behavior. After six months of the pilot project, the average savings at homes and businesses was 15 percent; after the six-month trial period energy savings reached as much as 40 percent in some participating homes… Read more

Intel partners to develop 'data centers of the future'

IntelIntel and T-Systems last week unveiled a new research facility aimed at developing the greenest data centers possible, and deploying those technologies to market rapidly. DataCenter2020, a test facility jointly developed by Intel and T-Systems, the business-facing data solutions unit of Deutsche Telekom, is a 70-square-meter test floor of data center space where researchers can put green IT best practices to work in order to lower the costs and environmental impacts of corporate computing facilities. Mentally ill face workplace stigma

Executives with mental health problems are being forced to suffer in silence at work amid increasing intolerance towards their condition, research from Britain's leading disability campaign group has found. In what it claims is the first UK study of highearning disabled workers, Radar found that people with a history of medical problems such as bipolar disorder or clinical depression were four times as likely to keep their illness secret than counterparts with other disabilities.
