Coca-Cola System to Invest US$3 Billion for Long-Term Sustainable Growth in Russia
The Coca-Cola Company and its bottling partner, Coca-Cola Hellenic, announced a new Russian investment program of US$3 billion over the next five years, commencing 2012, as part of the official opening of a new Coca-Cola plant in Rostov region. For DJSI, Telefónica is the company with the best practices in the telecommunications sector (Best in Class) in six key aspects: management of risk and crises; environmental management; development of human capital; impact of services in telecommunications; digital involvement and stakeholder engagement. Telefónica received, for the second year in a row, the highest evaluation in the telecommunications sector in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) , made up by two indexes showing 551 institutional investors, with assets of 71 trillion Dollars the transparency and performance of these companies in the subject of climate change.With a note of 90 points out of 100 -a point higher than last year-, Telefónica is the only Spanish company listed in the Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI),- measuring the quantity and quality of information offered by companies regarding climate change and where 52 of the best companies are represented… Read more

BNP Paribas and BNP Paribas Fortis publish sector policies
In 2010 and 2011, the Fortis Group published sector policies covering the defence, palm oil and nuclear power sectors. BNP Paribas has now published two new policy statements on paper pulp andfossil-fired power plants:Production of paper pulp, like palm oil, is an activity that has a major impact on deforestation, loss of biodiversity, climate change and the destabilization of local communities.Energy production from coal has a major impact on greenhouse gas emissions and climate change. Bank of America Ranked First Among Financial Institutions in Carbon Disclosure Project’s 2011 Global 500 and S&P 500 Rankings
Bank of America is the top-ranked global financial services company, and ranked fourth across all sectors in the recently released Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Global 500 Report. Cargill expands responsible sourcing program in Brazil
Cargill has announced a new $3 million grant to The Nature Conservancy (TNC) to protect the Brazilian rainforest and help farmers grow soy more sustainably. The grant expands a program that has already helped 383 farmers comply with conservation laws. Since 2004, the Responsible Soy project has successfully promoted responsible soy production in the Santarem area in the Brazilian state of Pará, where Cargill has a soy terminal, by helping soy farmers comply with the Brazilian Forest Code… Read more

Merck joins global fight to help save women's lives
Merck (NYSE: MRK), known as MSD outside the United States and Canada, announced that it will join United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and heads of state at the UN to launch "Merck for Mothers," a long-term effort with global health partners to create a world where no woman has to die from complications of pregnancy and childbirth.
