RSBi hosts Scottish Business in the Community employability event
Representatives from Amey and City Building (Glasgow) LLP recently took part in an employability event organised by Scottish Business in the Community to provide career advice and support to over 80 students from six additional support for learning schools throughout Glasgow. Business volunteers from both organisations took part to raise student’s awareness of potential jobs and training for people with learning disabilities within Amey and City Building.Each organisation showcased three job roles, providing an insight into the positions and hands on activities for the pupils… Read more

Ecobank joins forces with Western Union and USAID
Western Union, its Foundation, and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) have extended the application deadline for the African Diaspora Marketplace to February 15, 2012. The ADM is an initiative that encourages sustainable economic growth and employment by supporting U.S.-based diaspora entrepreneurs with ideas for start-up and established businesses in Africa. Western Union Agent and pan-African banking group Ecobank Group also announces its intention to join the second African Diaspora Marketplace (ADM).Read more (Source: Western Union)

Responsible Investment Summit: smart, sustainable and inclusive capital for 2020 Europe
The Responsible Investment Summit, co-organised by the European Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (EVCA) and CSR Europe, took place on the 31st of January with the aim of assessing to what extent the finance industry is set to meet both political and investor demands for clear governance, quantifiable reporting and sound environmental and social practices. Chambers Ireland: Responsible Business Practice Can Help Improve Ireland’s Global Reputation

Business Action on Health Publishes 2011 Report

Visualisation and Open Data in Helsinki
In the fall of 2011, a team of six IBM experts spent three weeks in Helsinki as part of IBM’s Smarter Cities Challenge program. The program brings together an interdisciplinary team to focus on a challenge faced by a city. In the case of Helsinki, the City wanted to make the most of two opportunities. One was that Helsinki had just begun to implement an open data strategy to make city data available to its citizens. The second was Helsinki’s selection as the 2012 World Design Capital, a biennial event that promotes cities that are using design to improve their social, cultural and economic life… Read more

Recommendations of the IBM Smarter Cities Challenge Programme completed
Helsinki, the only Nordic city chosen for the worldwide IBM Smarter Cities Challenge programme, has received a report prepared by an international working group. Within the scope of the cooperation project, the expert group compiled information on open data available in Helsinki and prepared recommendations on possibilities of integrating and visualizing data.
