CSR Europe and Novartis organise Stakeholder Dialogue session on Access to Medicines

NovartisOn 28 March 2012, Novartis and CSR Europe organized a Stakeholder Dialogue Session on Access to Medicines on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Glivec International Patient Assistance Programme (GIPAP). Around 20 participants from EU institutions, NGOs and other stakeholders discussed Novartis’ access to medicines approach and tried to provide constructive suggestions for Novartis’ future access to medicines strategy and social business models. Forética and Forum Empresa launch research publication that explores water management in Latin America

Influential trade body responds to new government report, and urges UK pension funds to take the lead

The UK Sustainable Investment and Finance Association (UKSIF) has welcomed today’s release of the interim report of the Kay Review and called for an emphasis on effective transparency and responsible procurement among its final recommendations. Novartis launches the Cancer Cell Line Encyclopedia (CCLE) to catalogue world's cancer cell lines

NovartisNovartis and the Broad Institute have developed a cancer cell line encyclopedia that catalogues the genetic and molecular profiles of almost 1,000 human cancer cell lines used in drug research and development. Results of the collaboration, published in the journal Nature and released in advance online today, may allow scientists around the world to use this information to improve cancer clinical trial design and further cancer research. Bank of America Merrill Lynch sponsors youth theatre production project in London

Bank of AmericaBank of America Merrill Lynch are proud to announce the sponsorship of a youth theatre production project in London. The project, titled Exhale, involves over 200 pupils from 15 schools across North and East London and is a culmination of work put together by disabled and non-disabled pupils. The project has been put together by Epic Arts (a charity which runs theatre workshops for youngsters with physical and learning disabilities). Epic and Bank of America Merrill Lynch have brought the show to London after the success of a previous Epic Arts project with schoolchildren in China… Read more

Dark chocolate may help to reduce your stress levels

According to research undertaken by Nestlé, eating a moderate amount of dark chocolate every day can help reduce the hormones in your body that make you feel stressed.Scientists from the Nestlé Research Center (NRC) in Switzerland examined the biochemical basis for chocolate's reputation as a comfort food.Their research revealed that the chemical compounds contained in dark chocolate may improve the disposition of people who experience higher levels of stress. Study on Social attitudes toward fostering entrepreneurship and innovation demand

A study on Social attitudes to innovation and entrepreneurship has been made public.  The study provides novel insights into entrepreneurship and social attitudes to innovation and underlines how different social factors influence attitude towards innovation. Understanding these differences is therefore essential to improve the framework conditions for innovation. The study team UNU-MERIT, (Maastricht Economic and Social Research Institute on Innovation and Technology), recommends a number of actions to change social attitudes including long-term subsidies lowering the cost price of innovative products, awareness-building measures to emphasise the benefits of innovations, and the introduction of labels to act as guarantees of their quality and potential use… Read more
