EU update webinar focuses on EC proposal on disclosure of non-financial and diversity information

Today's EU update webinar informed participants on the recent European Commission (EC) proposal on disclosure of non-financial and diversity information.  On 16 April 2013, the EC adopted a Directive aimed at increasing transparency in regards to large companies' environmental and social efforts.  More information about the legislative proposal is available on the EC’s website.  CSR Europe members can download the webinar presentation and further background information here. Minutes will be made available in the following days.

Johnson & JohnsonJohnson & Johnson have released their Citizenship & Sustainability Executive Summary Report covering the year 2012.  The report builds on a previous materiality assessment as well as seven priority strategy areas that form the Helathy Future 2015 goals.  It also incorporates the Global Reporting Initiative's (GRI) Sustainability Reporting Guidelines, which aim to aid corporations in producing effectively communicated reports covering the four key areas of economic, environmental, social and governance performance… Read more

Latest Doughty Centre Occasional Paper focuses on social intrapreneurism

The Doughty Centre’s recent edition, published on 9 April 2013, analyses how to create an environment that nurtures social intrapreneurism – “innovation that produces positive social, as well as commercial, impact for organisations.”In particular, the Doughty Centre identifies five cultural elements that contribute to a intrapreneurial workplace, which it designates “D.A.R.E.S.” – dialogue, autonomy, risk-taking, experimentation and sustainability.  The paper goes on to pinpoint key aspects of the corporate structure that can aid or even hinder the development of social intrapreneurism, aiming to help companies focus their efforts on creating a sustainable mechanism… Read more

BITC conduct survey on Post 2015 MDG agenda

The UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) will expire in 2015, and the debate on what should follow them is underway. Many businesses are seeing business opportunities in addressing development issues, but for businesses to be seen as key players and part of the solution they need to engage in the Post 2015 development debate. UPJ launch Social Marketplace website

The German responsible business organisation UPJ has recently launched a website designed to provide businesses and NGOs with an easy step in speed dating format to locally initiate cooperation between business and community organisations from scratch.The site, www.social-marketplace-international.org, will equip visitors with practical information, material and guidance, specifically designed to aid organisers of Social Marketplace as well as inform those interested in such events.  The database draws on experiences over the last 10 years from over 250 Marketplaces in more than 90 cities in Germany and over 500 Marketplaces in the Netherlands… Read more

Intel Ireland's Brendan Cannon interviewed by inGenious
