NESTA launch Ageing Well Challenge which rewards ideas that can reduce isolation and increase mobility of older people

UK’s National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (NESTA) has announced the launch of the Ageing Well Challenge, a prize looking for innovative ideas that can reduce the isolation and/or increase the mobility of vulnerable older people.Funded by the Cabinet Office, the challenge is about “putting ideas into practice” and providing new opportunities for communities to come together to give time, skills and resources. Through the Ageing Well Challenge Prize, NESTA aims to:Share insights about the value of, and principles for the giving of time, skills and resource at community level to reduce isolation and increase the mobility of older peopleEncourage the development of more impactful and cost effective approachesShare learning about the effectiveness of using challenge prizes to stimulate social innovation methodsThe deadline for entries is 14 September 2012… Read more

European Commission issues publication highlighting successful EU Health Programmes

EdenredThe European Commission has recently issued a new publication outlining a series of best projects funded under the second Health Programme. The publication, "Health for the EU in 20 success stories" provides an overview of 20 successful projects funded by the EU health programmes, programmes developed to support EU member states in their efforts to improve health and lifestyles throughout Europe. Since 2008, the Health Programme has financed projects worth close to 237 million euros and aims to contribute to support the Europe 2020 strategy by delivering the growth agenda for a smarter, inclusive and more sustainable Europe… Read more

Nestlé encourages women in Dubai to maintain healthy bones

Nestlé is supporting a new public health campaign in Dubai to encourage more women to keep their bones healthy to help delay or prevent osteoporosis.The company is working with the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) to provide free health screenings and bone density tests at clinics and medical centres across the principality.The ‘Care for your Body, Care for your Health’ campaign offers women expert advice on steps they can take to help prevent the condition, in which bones become thin and fragile… Read more
