The Alliance for Climate Protection is about to launch the most ambitious U.S. marketing campaign ever on climate change, at a cost of more than $100 million a year for three years, US Today reports. Green private banking boom behind 67% annual rise in Swiss sustainable assets

A surge in the levels of private banking and retail investment has boosted sustainable investment strategies in Switzerland by 67% in one year, Responsible Investor reports. According to a survey of 19 fund managers by OnValues, the Swiss sustainable research company, for the first time high net worth and retail investors overtook institutional investors in terms of volumes invested to represent 53% of the Swiss sustainability market. IBM's Corporate Service Corps heading to six emerging countries to spark socio-economic growth while developing global leaders

US consumers hungry for green technology, survey says

Sales of green technology to American consumers have the potential to reach $104 billion this year, according to a new survey, which also found that desire for greener products is being severely underserved, GreenerComputing reports. The 2007 National Technology Readiness Survey found that 71 percent of adults are interested in green technology but there is a gap between the number of green items consumers own and would like to have. ‘Radical greening’ one of top strategic business risks

“Radical greening” is one of the top 10 strategic business risks for 2008, Environmental Leader reports on the results of a new study by Ernst & Young. Companies should be aware that the hazards of potential climate change might be more imminent than is commonly understood. “We may see physical climate surprises as well as an increased policy response that is more abrupt than most firms are currently planning for,” the report states. Skilled migrants are vital to economy, UK study says

A record number of highly skilled migrant workers such as nurses and teachers will enter Britain over the next four years, contributing an estimated £77bn to the country's economy, the Guardian reports. Nanoparticles already on EU shelves, green groups warn

Environmental groups are warning that advances in the science of nanotechnology are racing ahead of public policy with neither consumers, regulators nor scientists fully aware of the toxicity of so-called nanoparticles, EUobserver reports. A thirsty planet looks for solutions to water shortage

By 2025, a third of the planet's growing population could find itself scavenging for safe drinking water, the United Nations warned ahead of World Water Day on 22 March, AFP reports. More than two million people in developing countries - the vast majority children - die every year from diseases associated with unsanitary water.
