BITC conduct survey on Post 2015 MDG agenda

The UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) will expire in 2015, and the debate on what should follow them is underway. Many businesses are seeing business opportunities in addressing development issues, but for businesses to be seen as key players and part of the solution they need to engage in the Post 2015 development debate. UPJ launch Social Marketplace website

The German responsible business organisation UPJ has recently launched a website designed to provide businesses and NGOs with an easy step in speed dating format to locally initiate cooperation between business and community organisations from scratch.The site, www.social-marketplace-international.org, will equip visitors with practical information, material and guidance, specifically designed to aid organisers of Social Marketplace as well as inform those interested in such events.  The database draws on experiences over the last 10 years from over 250 Marketplaces in more than 90 cities in Germany and over 500 Marketplaces in the Netherlands… Read more

Intel Ireland's Brendan Cannon interviewed by inGenious

EC adopts the package "Building the Single Market for Green Products"

The Single Market for Green Products Initiative has been called into action to address the plethora of regulations that companies currently face when marketing a green product across different European states.  This array of classifications also results in confusion for the consumer, with 48% of Europeans reporting to be somewhat confused by the "stream of environmental information they receive."The European Commission's initiative will establish two methods to measure environmental performance throughout a products lifecycle, which it will encourage between Member States during it's there year testing period… Read more

Bettercoal Code enters Phase 2 of Consultation as the Organization gears-up for Operations

The Draft Bettercoal Code has entered Phase 2 of consultation and is now available for stakeholder review and comment through the consultation website. Version 1.2 will be available on the website in four languages – English, Spanish, Russian and Bahasa Indonesian. Stakeholders who have registered at the Code consultation website will be able to provide their comments over a minimum period of 30 days.The Code builds upon existing mining standards and recognizes current best practice in the industry… Read more

Eurobarometer poll highlights need for greater corporate communication

The results of the Flash Eurobarometer survey regarding citizens' perceptions of the impact of businesses on society have been released on the European Commission's website.  The poll gauged public opinion from throughout the EU 27 members states as well as Brazil, USA, China, India, Turkey and Croatia.Non-European states normally reported a more positive view of businesses and their impact on societies.  When asked to rate the overall influence of companies on society, EU 27 members were the most sceptical of all, with a slim majority of 52% regarding the influence as 'positive'… Read more

European CSR Award in Macedonia knows its winners

Poland celebrates winning partnerships of the European CSR Award

The award in the Small and Medium Enterprises category went to Horus Innowacyjne Materiały Przemysłowe Sp. z o.o. for the visibility on roads project (“Be Visible – Be Safe”) implemented with Bydgoszcz city authorities and other social partners.
