Report: Suppliers need nudge on climate management

Global suppliers, still largely unaware of the business risks of global warming, may need their biggest customers to point them in the right direction, Sustainable Life Media reports on the findings of a new report from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). Breaking gender stereotypes - practical advice for small businesses

"Break gender stereotypes, give talent a chance!" is a training and awareness raising initiative promoted by the European Commission to inform companies, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises, of the benefits that they can derive from overcoming gender stereotypes in business management. Slovakia: Pontis Foundation organises training for future entrepreneurs

The Pontis Foundation, CSR Europe's national partner in Slovakia, in co-operation with the Integra Foundation, organised a training called "How to start your own business" for people with hearing dis­abilities who wanted to set up their own small licence businesses. The training was financially supported by a grant program of T-Mobile Slovakia called "Looking for Another Sense - For Doing Business". Spain: Forética publishes guide on CSR communications

Forética, a CSR Europe national partner organisation in Spain, has published a new guide on CSR communications. The first part of the guide, written by the CSR department of the PR agency Inforpress Group, analyzes the  challenges faced by organisations who want to effectively communicate their CSR policies. Caisses d'Epargne's customer loyalty scheme supports WWF

BPCEOn 12 March, representatives from WWF France were presented with a check for a total of €105,400 raised by Groupe Caisse d'Epargne within the framework of its S'Miles programme. This customer loyalty scheme enables savings bank customers to be rewarded by collecting S'Miles whenever they make a purchase using their Caisse d'Epargne Visa card, withdraw cash from a Caisse d'Epargne ATM, etc. Customers can then transform their S'Miles into gifts or, alternatively, into a donation. More than 7,000 donations were made by Caisse d'Epargne customers in 2008, multiplying by a factor of two the amount paid to the international conservation organisation last year… Read more

The future of green building in China

China’s green building demand is mainly driven by multinational companies, but to achieve the country's energy saving targets, local companies need to commit to green building standards too, ClimateChangeCorp reports. Business schools face test of faith

For years the MBA was the ultimate status symbol for high-flying bankers, but with the international financial system crippled during the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, many are now asking what exactly these people learnt in business schools when they got their MBAs, the BBC reports. UK baby boomers shifting attitudes towards retirement, survey says

A survey amongst the baby boomer generation in the UK shows a transformation in attitudes to retirement , Aging Workforce News reports. The research by Standard Life found, among other things, that rather than retirement being when they stop work, 39% of adults in the United Kingdom (rising to 42% of 46-65 year olds who are wealthier) want to continue to be involved at work but on their own terms, whereas only 15% of their parent's generation wanted to stay in some kind of work at retirement.
