Business creativity fuelling growth, says study
British businesses are shown as unexpectedly innovative in a detailed study designed to measure creativity in the economy. The research suggests that such innovation is driving faster productivity growth in the UK than in other large European states. The National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (Nesta) unveiled its first Innovation Index last month. This assesses the economic impact beyond research and development to include product design, training in new skills, organisational change, developing new brands and copyright. Report maps the attitudes and influence of stakeholders on corporate social responsibility
A new report from the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship (BCCCC) seeks to map the national stakeholder landscapes in nine countries. The report, entitled 'Mapping Stakeholder Landscapes: The influence and impact of global stakeholders', identifies stakeholder groups as "investors, employees, consumers, governments, media, communities and NGOs, among others." Among the ways in which stakeholders are making their voices heard include "the growing number of shareholder resolutions in areas of corporate governance, social responsibility and environmental affairs," as well as "stronger consumer and employee preferences to buy from and work for socially responsible businesses, heightened public expectations of more transparency from companies and reporting on social performance, and the ever present threat of protest or boycotts… Read more

European Metalworkers’ Federation (EMF) and ArcelorMittal sign an agreement in Europe to strengthen social dialogue and anticipate change
The European Metalworkers' Federation (EMF) and ArcelorMittal's European management signed an important agreement in November, with provisions for the restart of equipment as well as negotiated changes and opportunities to enhance employability for the Company's 115,000 workers in Europe during this challenging period of reduced activity that has led to the idling of some blast furnaces and industrial sites. Innovative participatory dialogue on corporate social responsibility held with Czech business executives and global leadership experts in Prague
The Business Leaders Forum invited Czech business leaders to explore the use of corporate social responsibility (CSR) with leadership experts from all over the world. Through the use of a participatory dialogue in the form of the World Café, over 75 participants shared perspectives and compared current practices on corporate social responsibility programs in the Czech Republic with other international approaches. Toyota Motor Industries Poland (TMIP) renovates Playgrounds
For years many TMIP employees have been concerned about the poor condition of existing recreational areas for children in the villages of Miloszyce and Leg. Thanks to support received from the Toyota Fund for Europe (TFfE), Toyota Motor Industries Poland (TIMP) was able to implement a large-scale renovation program of the parks. Existing playground equipment was painted and cleaned, new toys were installed and the general area of the playgrounds was tidied, fenced and new trees and bushes were planted… Read more

Toyota Motor Europe welcomes PURPLE
Toyota Motor Europe has welcomed delegates from the Peri Urban Regions Platform Europe (PURPLE) to Head Office on 13 November. The members of PURPLE were gathered in Brussels for the organisation's General Assembly and the network provides a forum to discuss how to optimise urbanisation, agriculture, open spaces and business development at the periphery of cities. The visit by the representatives from PURPLE presented the Toyota Greenway team with a wonderful opportunity to obtain feedback on Toyota's CSR initiatives and to understand the expectations for the future.
