CSR Turkey, with the support of CSR Europe, organised its second marketplace activity in Turkey, on October 15th 2010. The event which took place at Kadir Has University around the theme of "CSR as a corporate culture" joined by nearly 20 leading companies. -The CSR Marketplace event offered a unique opportunity for Turkish companies as a platform to exchange their ideas and experiences in the field of CSR and to present their top CSR solutions. Telefónica subscribe to EU codes of conduct for energy
Telefónica has subscribed to the European Union Codes of Conduct on energy efficiency for data processing centers and broadband equipment for customers. These are voluntary codes which, according to the Vice President of the European Commission and Commissioner for the Digital Agenda, Neelie Kroes, "will significantly reduce electricity consumption in the EU and will save 4,500 million euros a year."Telefónica has taken this step as part of the Group's energy efficiency activities promoted by the Office of Climate Change and the Operations and Information Technologies team… Read more

The Queen recognises investment success with royal visit
Her Majesty The Queen, accompanied by His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, today visited the Coca-Cola Hellenic bottling plant in County Antrim, Northern Ireland to tour the recently opened factory and to officially open the new Coca-Cola Visitors Centre. The facility represents an investment of £93m and provides employment for approximately 600 people directly and an estimated 6,000 people indirectly in the supply chain. The state of the art plant is capable of producing 250,000 cases of beverages per day and includes an energy-efficient Combined Heat and Power plant to reduce CO2 emissions in production by 66% as well as computer controlled automated warehousing system… Read more

ArcelorMittal funds university chair for sustainable construction
ArcelorMittal has funded a new chair of Façade Engineering in the field of steel-intensive construction at the University of Luxembourg. The research will be aimed at promoting the development of energy-efficient high-tech buildings made of steel, steel composites and glass. The "ArcelorMittal Chair in Façade Engineering" was awarded to Christoph Odenbreit, a professor of Construction Engineering at the University of Luxembourg.
