Towards the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations (2012)
The European Commission proposed on 6 September 2010 to designate 2012 as European Year for Active Ageing. The proposal is currently discussed within Parliament and Council which are expected to adopt the decision by June 2011. The conference will be an important milestone towards the European Year for Active Ageing (2012) and should help to mobilise stakeholders at all levels. The Commission will launch a first version of the future website of the European Year 2012. Member States, local and regional authorities, social partners and civil society organisations will be invited to introduce specific objectives and activities in view of 2012… Read more

Titan tire participates in local wishes do come true contest
Titan Tire Corporation, a subsidiary of Titan International, Inc. (NYSE: TWI), is proud to announce its support of the American WHO Radio's "Wishes Do Come True contest". Titan Tire offered two gifts of $1,500 each to nominees who are deserving of Titan tires. Skip Sagar, Titan's manager of sales for Iowa, explained, "Listeners were asked to nominate someone they know who needed a hand up instead of a hand out. European Ministers back innovation alliance on 'healthy ageing'
As the EU prepares to launch a pilot innovation partnership on "active and healthy ageing," patient groups are stressing that the initiative should not only focus on medical innovation, but also address age-friendly environments and access to health care. The EU's 27 ministers in charge of competitiveness yesterday (9 March) endorsed European Commission proposals to launch a European innovation partnership on active and healthy ageing. European Business Awards for the Environment to include Business & Biodiversity Award from 2012

HP Improves Product Energy Efficiency by 50%
Hewlett-Packard has announced a 50 percent improvement in product energy efficiency, exceeding its target. HP had set a goal to reduce its products' energy consumption by 40 percent by the end of 2011, from a 2005 baseline.
